I am using this blog to share my experience with Web 2.0 tools in my personal and professional life.
WELCOME
This is my first attempt at blogging and it scares me to death. I am really not the type of person to just "put it all out there", but for the sake of education here I go!
Proposal
“Teachers need to integrate technology seamlessly into the curriculum instead of viewing it as an add-on, an afterthought, or an event.”
-Heidi-Hayes Jacobs, Educational Consultant
I am currently a third grade group director at Colegio Anglo Colombiano in Bogota, Colombia. The class contains 22 English as a Second Language students between the ages of 9 and 10 years old. Within the third grade team of professionals I work with 5 other third grade group directors, specialist teachers, and a Spanish teacher. Colegio Anglo Colombiano is an accredited IB school, I facilitate the Primary Years Program, including subject areas of math, language, reading, and the unit of inquiry. My personal comfort level with technology is at a novice level.
Goals
1. To become more technologically aware of applications that are available to enhance student experience in the classroom by reading educational articles focused on technology integration into the classroom. (Voki, VoiceThread, Prezi, Wiki)
2. To design and implement a class Wiki that parents and students will be able to access to further develop a sense of community within the classroom.
3. To have students complete one VoiceThread learning experience that will connect them to another part of the world.
4. To implement a daily planning schedule with Google Calendar to keep my classes, meetings, and commitments organized.
5. To become more open-minded about the importance of technology integration for students.
